ULRICH LANG NEW YORK
Translating sight to scent, expanding the power of art to move us.
Ulrich Lang knows intimately how connected the senses are. He understood, early on, that he had a gifted “nose” (cultivated inside his grandmother’s small German perfumery). Later, he discovered a powerful affinity for the captured image, becoming a connoisseur and collector of modern photography.
Lang followed his passions in his professional life—in marketing at L’Oreal, he helped build the art portal Artnet.com—but always separately, until 2003. In founding his own perfumery, the connection became clear: both scent and photography are the art of capturing the ephemeral. Of speaking without words. Of provoking emotion.
Hence scents that blur the line between photography and perfumery. Each is inspired by, and adorned with, an original photographic work—one that spoke intimately to Lang, and continues to speak, through the senses, to all of us.
